Does Americas geographic isolation make it less tolerant of other cultures?

A melting pot, thats what they always say, but do they even know what that means? or do you for that matter?

The United States population consists of a percentage less then 15% for immigrants, that is, people who migrate to this country for residence. The fact is, its not the immigrants that come to the US every year that make us so diverse.

Instead you should look to the people who are here and born every day. Chances are, most of the people you will meet would be considered a mutt if they were a dog. So many races mixed into one, simply lumping someone into white or black will not work. I am myself 2/4′s Native American ( 2/6ths Cherokee and 1/6th Blackfoot. ), while also being 1/8th German and Irish, and on up to the pretty far back on the line, 1/12th African, French, and Italian, yet, I am lumped into a group of “White” or the more political correct term, “Caucasian.” Despite the fact I am more Native American then I am anything.

I find it funny that people can ever say that race, which often correlates to culture, or at least how it is viewed and believed, is not a factor.

Americans as a whole often have massively diverse cultures thrust ed upon them simply from where they live. I know myself, even despite the heavily laden culture of both Black ( For lack of better word in comparison to African, which is supposed to be “political correct” even despite the fact it negates an entire culture by relating all “African” culture to Africa. ) Americans and African cultures alike ( There is a difference here, as African culture often varies greatly compared to the Black Americans of the united states, especially in going back to the older ancestors. ), Cincinnati takes pride in its German heritage, being that almost all of the citizens have roots to Germans, black, white, or otherwise.

Ontop of this, through out the year there are celebrations ranging from holidays traditionally viewed in Italy, to entire festivals dedicated to the Native American ,Dutch, French, African, as well as various others. They even have a yearly festival lasting three days for Appalachians, to which, all citizens of Cincinnati are, regardless of race or skin color.

To think its like this in one town, where race is so widely distributed, even despite being one of the largest cities in Ohio, it certainly is not different in other cities. They have just as much racial distribution, and through it, people wanting to look into the cultures of their ancestors, its not just a matter of tolerance ,its a matter of curiosity, and being geographically “isolated” certainly does not stop curiosity.
